Cancelling a project

Cancelling a Project

There may come a time where you need to cancel a project. This can only be instigated on the client’s end, meaning you will need to be the one to initiate a project cancellation.

When canceling a project, some best practices are:

  • Discuss with the creator the reason for the cancellation at the earliest possible convenience.

  • Try to work it out and see if there is a way to salvage the project.

  • Agree on fair compensation if a cancellation is inevitable for any work that has already been completed.

  • Reach out to your Glimmer account manager to explain what went wrong.

Begin by finding the relevant project in your Projects view.

Once you have selected the project you wish to cancel, click the ellipsis button at the top of the project page and select Request Cancellation.

Before you continue with the cancellation process there are a few things you must confirm first. These checkboxes indicate the following things:

1. That you have discussed project cancellation and the terms with your creator.

2. That you and the creator have explored reasonable options to avoid cancellation.

3. That you've agreed on fair compensation for the work completed (if any).

Cancellation - Step 1 - Confirm

After this step you will be asked to provide your reason for cancellation. You will be given the option of leaving a private note for Glimmer staff and the reason it did not proceed to completion. This helps us understand why the project is being cancelled, and will not be shared with the creator.

Cancellation - Step 2 - Reason

Once you have provided the reason for cancellation, you will enter the agreed compensation. A creator should be compensated for any work they have completed, with an amount that should be agreed upon between you and them. This can be entered in the Project Price section, and can be for $0 if agreed upon between you and your creator.

Cancellation - Step 3 - Payment

After inputting your project price we will calculate your final payment for your project. This is shown alongside your previous project price (the original price of your project before cancellation). Service fees will still apply if you have a project price greater than $0.

Cancellation - Step 3 - Payment - filled $0

If you have any expenses that are attached to your project you will still be responsible for paying these. This will appear on your project cancellation form, and will be identified by the creator's original note on what they were for.

Cancellation - Step 3 - Payment - has expenses - filled $0

Once you have selected Request Cancellation you will be taken to the final page confirming your project price. This will show the total amount of your cancellation and what will be paid out to the creator upon completion (if anything).

Updates (1)

You will see the cancellation reflected in the project page immediately. If, for some reason, you need to undo the cancellation, you can also do so by selecting Undo Cancellation on the Project page.
